Grammy-winning pop artist P!nk sounds as strong as ever on the infectious, biting, “Hustle,” the second single from her eighth album, Hurts 2B Human.
“So, don’t hustle me / Don’t hustle me / Don’t fuck with me / And don’t hustle me.” Amazingly, Grammy-winning pop star P!nk will turn 40 years old in September 2019. Where did the time go? Even so, as the aforementioned lyrical excerpt from the chorus of single “Hustle” confirms, she’s still as edgy and feisty as ever. “Hustle” follows up earlier promo single, “Walk Me Home”. Perhaps that exclamation mark in place of the letter “I” represents the grit she’s showcased throughout an illustrious career, sigh. There is no indication whatsoever that Alecia Moore is mellowing out as she releases her eighth studio album, Hurts 2B Human (April 26, 2019).
“Hustle” is yet another satisfying addition to the P!nk collection. From the onset, the groove instantly drawing the listener’s attention, initially established by a bass (or bass-favoring synth). The sound embraces retro-pop with a dash of soulfulness. This soulfulness really comes full-throttle on the biting chorus where the song is at its most robust. Here, the throwback horns help to amplify the infectious, irresistible ear candy that is “Hustle.” Contributing to the soulfulness and overall ‘ear-catchiness’ is the crowning achievement of “Hustle,” those surefire, high-flying, big-time vocals of P!nk.
Final Thoughts
To reiterate, P!nk sounds as ripe if not riper than ever on “Hustle.” She’s 40? Hard to believe! By the end of this memorable record, her ad-libs are nothing short of awesome. In addition to those excellent pipes, excellent production and catchy songwriting make “Hustle” the standout that it is. Definitely, this brief, three-minute joint is a great way to build anticipation for Hurts 2B Human.
