Payson Lewis, When Love Was Young © Payson LewisUp-and-coming pop musician Payson Lewis shows tremendous potential on his debut single, “When Love Was Young.” His best attribute is his compelling, powerful voice.

#Rising star.  That’s the best way to describe Philadelphia-bred pop artist Payson Lewis.  Lewis has been building his ‘artistic resume’ early on with numerous covers and mash-ups. Notably, Lewis has been featured on Perez Hilton, Mashable, and Huffington Post – nothing small about any of those outlets! This dude has already accomplished a lot – Get it Payson! The next step for an artist who begins gains attention for covering and interpreting others work is delivering their own.  That’s what Lewis does on his debut single, “When Love Was Young.”

The selling points are ample on “When Love Was Young.”  First and foremost is the voice.  Payson Lewis has a truly, beautiful and expressive instrument on his hands.  His vocals are clear and easily pop out of the production.  The bite and energy that he exhibits on the chorus is awesome – he’s in full command throughout the record.  Clearly, he’s invested into what he sings.  “When Love Was Young” is a song that reminisces on love at its best.  Lewis comes over as incredibly authentic in delivering the theme of the song.

Beyond the killer lead vocals and an authentic portrayal of a relatable theme, the production is superb. This adds to the elite nature of “When Love Was Young.” Assertive guitars, pummeling drums, and rhythmic piano all play a major role in crafting a magnificent backdrop for Lewis to paint over. The dynamic nature – the grandiosity of the whole shebang – further builds the case for the excellence of “When Love Was Young.” Adding backing vocals to just adds another sensational layer.

Final Thoughts

In reiteration, Payson Lewis is a #rising star – he is the total package.  “When Love Was Young” is a masterclass how to deliver an elite original, debut single.  Vocals, production, and songwriting are on-point.  Furthermore, Lewis is on his way to the top.
