“Two California valley boys / The very best of friends / They used to go on dates with girls / But now they don’t pretend.” Oh… you mean, they’re… homosexual!? Yup, or so Pansy Division informs us! Those two boys are Bill and Ted, gay lovers in “Bill & Ted’s Homosexual Adventure”… Hmm, wonder where Pansy Division came up with that original title? “In the garage / They are practicing their guitar solos,” Jon Ginoli sings in the second verse, and adds, “But in the bedroom / They are practicing on one another.” Oh fuck 🤭! “Bill & Ted’s Homosexual Adventure” is the third track on the Pansy Division compilation album, Singles & Such, released in 2019.  “Bill & Ted” is filled with gay lyrics, which is on brand for the LGBTQ-themed band.

Pansy Division refers to Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, while also delivering a heaping dose of double entendre and suggestive lyrics (“Hey dude, 69!” and “They got condoms in their pockets / Plug 🔌 into each other’s sockets”).  There are also clever and creative lyrics, too: “They learned from Socrates / And other ancient Greeks / The art of homo love / And sexual techniques.” Okay, so those lyrics got sexual, too…   Beyond the songwriting, the sound of “Bill & Ted’s Homosexual Adventure” stands out with the ripe, distorted guitar, a fat, anchoring bass line, and hard-hitting drum grooves. The entertaining chorus is the section to beat:

“It’s no bogus journey

It’s the hearts’ true yearning

It’s time for Bill and Ted’s

Homosexual adventure to begin.”
