Omar Rudberg, Sabotage [📷: Elektra Entertainment]“Your eyes are weapons / With a  look, I feel emotional / Don’t like confessing, but I think about it every damn night.” Every damn night, Omar Rudberg? You’ve got it bad.  On the flip side, wouldn’t it be easy to fantasize think about Omar Rudberg every damn night? I mean, he’s good-looking, and he was awesome in the Swedish Netflix drama/romance series, Young Royals as Simon. Most pertinent to our cause, the Venezuelan-Swedish artist is a great singer. There’s nothing controversial or outlandish about the single “Sabotage”, other than an f-bomb. It is a bop worth adding to any pop playlist.

“Sabotage” is relatable.  Why? Four words: matters of the heart.  Further simplified: love. Taken by this person, Rudberg has never felt the way that this person (genderless in the song) makes him feel. “But I always let love go /… My intention’s only good though,” he sings in the first verse, concluding, “But you pierce through my heart / Like no one else has done.” The second verse is where that f-bomb rears its explicit head, with Omar asserting, “‘Cause every inch of you’s fucking perfect.” I mean, if this person is ‘the shit,’ they’re ‘the shit,’ right? fire sunglasses“You were the door I couldn’t open, now I can’t lock it.” The chorus is the centerpiece, where Rudberg rises to the occasion with his most dynamic and expressive pipes:

“If I die in your arms

Wouldn’t care ‘bout heaven at all

Until my time’s up, I swear

I’ll try my best not to sabotage what we got.”

Whatever this love is between them, it’s deep, and Omar doesn’t want to mess up a good thing.  Penning this well-rounded, amorous song is Chris Collins, Elias Edman, Jacob Werner, and Noak Hellsing.  Edman and Werner also produced, providing Omar with sweet accompaniment to fuel his fire.  We’re pulling for you Simon, I mean Omar – don’t “Sabotage” this love!
