Prepare to beam with P-R-I-D-E 🏳️‍🌈! Beaming with Pride celebrates, embraces, and spotlights songs by LGBTQ musicians or allies.  Here, we provide background and insight into musicians, analyze, plus go gaga over the decadent bops served up.  When songs dictate deeper and more transcendent discussion, we ensure the point is fully articulated.  All styles of music are welcome, whether the songs are classics or brand-new. So, without further ado, in the 84th edition of Beaming with Pride (2025), we highlight “Dying” performed by Omar Rudberg.

“I’ve been dyin’ for you, just the way you wanted me to,”
Venezuelan 🇻🇪 Swedish 🇸🇪 singer and actor Omar Rudberg sings on “Dying”.  He continues in the chorus, the centerpiece: “When I said I wasn’t cryin’, I confess that I was lyin’ / Baby, I’ve been dyin’, oh.”  Aww, those pesky matters of the heart are something else 💔! Despite a façade of being okay without his ex-lover, Rudberg admits his lies. The talented Isaac Dunbar and Tommy English penned “Dying.” English also produced, providing Rudberg with a chilling, emotional, and haunting musical backdrop.

Pride Progress FanOmar Rudberg sings beautifully and expressively throughout “Dying.” His experience of suffering from longing for an ex-lover is relatable, regardless of sexuality.  This is universal and discriminates against no one. Rather than express himself, Omar chose to hold things in.  Never a great choice, but a frequent occurrence.  “I swallowed up my feelings, I’m a shipwreck in a bottle,” he sings in the verse, and adds, “Now I’m drownin’ without you.” Continuing the ocean-related lyrics, in the pre-chorus, he asks, “Are we done for sure? / Is it overboard / If I tell you that…”  Before the outro, there is a gorgeous instrumental interlude.  That interlude matches the emotions marvelously exhibited by Rudberg throughout this heartbroken record.  Despite the love pain experienced by our handsome Swedish artist, “Dying” is a radiant, well-written, well-produced single that is a welcome addition to the LGBTQ+ and pop catalogues!
