Olivia Rodrigo, bad idea right? [πŸ“·: Brent Faulkner/The Musical Hype; Olivia Rodrigo / Geffen; OpenClipart-Vectors, PIRO via Pixabay]Olivia Rodrigo delivers another fierce bop with β€œbad idea right?”, the second single from her highly anticipated sophomore LP, GUTS.

β€œFuck it, it’s fine.” Yup, that’s the kind of energy that πŸ† Grammy-winning pop artist πŸŽ™ Olivia Rodrigo serves up on 🎡 β€œbad idea right?”. β€œBad idea right?” arrives as the second single from her highly anticipated sophomore album, πŸ’Ώ GUTS, following up the vampirical no. 1 hit, 🎡 β€œvampire”. As always, exemplified by the excerpted, f-bomb lyric, Rodrigo is bold, Gen-Z AF, and unapologetic.  Her fuel is fired by a πŸŽ› Dan Nigro production, who also co-writes this snarling gem with her.

Olivia Rodrigo, bad idea right? [πŸ“·: Olivia Rodrigo / Geffen]From the jump, β€œbad idea right?” isn’t a bad idea from a listening perspective.  The pop/rock groove is infectious and intense – rock TF on 🀘. Olivia’s vocal performance is alluring as she’s feisty in the verses with spoken, unapologetic lyrics (β€œHaven’t heard from you in a couple of months / But I’m out right now and I’m all fucked up”). The spoken portion, and the vibe of β€œbad idea right?” bears similarities to 🎡 β€œBrutal”, one the standouts from πŸ’Ώ Sour.  Even with similar energy, it clearly separates itself.  β€œBad idea right?” also has its fair share of sung vocals, and when it is melodic, it’s truly tuneful.  Of course, the section to beat on this ex-fueled joint is the chorus:

β€œYes, I know that he’s my ex

But can’t two people reconnect?

I only see him as a friend

The biggest lie I ever said?

Oh, yes, I know that he’s my ex

But can’t two people reconnect?

I only see him as a friend

I just tripped and fell into his bed.”

Bitmoji Image🎡 β€œBad idea right?” gives Rodrigo yet another bop. It benefits from sounding different from anything else on the radio. Girl, unleash those GUTS!
