Olivia Rodrigo Spends 3rd Week on Top | Scanning the Charts 📉

Scanning the Charts (7/14/21): Olivia Rodrigo returns to no. 1 on the Billboard 200, while BTS spends a 7^th week at no. 1 on the Hot 100.  

Well, SCANNING THE CHARTS is just what it says it is.  I, the quirky founder and do-it-all at The Musical Hype scans through the Billboard Charts and picks out things that catch my eye. This column isn’t extensive, but rather short and sweet.  This week, I picked out FIVE notable observations from the Billboard 200 📉,  and FOUR observations from the Billboard Hot 100 📉, with 🎙 Olivia Rodrigo returning to no. 1 on the Billboard 200, and 🎙 BTS holding serve at no. 1 on the Hot 100.

Billboard 200 📉 

💭 Olivia Rodrigo returns to no. 1 on the Billboard 200 for a third nonconsecutive week. 💿 SOUR ascends from no. 3 to no. 1.  Last week’s chart topper, 🎙 Tyler, The Creator, sees 💿 CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST slide to no. 6 in its second week.

💭 After launching at no. 2 last week, 🎙 Doja Cat holds serve at no. 2 with 💿 Planet Her despite a decline in numbers.

💭 🎙 G Herbo lays claim to the sole debut in the top-90 of the Billboard 200! 💿 25 launches at no. 5.

💭 Following G Herbo, the next highest debut arrives at no. 95.  🎙 Jxdn debuts modestly (understatement) with 💿 Tell Me About Tomorrow.

💭 🎙 Yungeen Ace debuts quietly at no. 119 with 💿 Life of Betrayal 2x.  Likewise, 🎙 Riley Green bows at no. 122 with 💿 Behind the Bar.

Billboard Hot 100 📉 

💭 Yep, you guessed it, 🎙 BTS spends a seventh consecutive week on top of the Billboard Hot 100 with 🎵 “Butter”.

💭 🎙 Aaron Lewis debuts at no. 14 on the Hot 100 with 🎵 “Am I The Only One.”

💭 🎙 Brent Faiyaz, assisted by 🎙 Drake sees 🎵 “Wasting Time” bow at no. 49.

💭 🎙 Big Red Machine, assisted by 🎙 Taylor Swift, launches at no. 73 with 🎵 “Renegade”.
