NLE Choppa, Me Vs. Me [📷: Warner]Rapper NLE Choppa goes hard on “I.Y.B.” (“If you buck”), dropping a ferocious banger that runs a mere minute-and-a-half.

“P

ull his wig back like a nigga receding / Shoot him in the stomach, them bullets he eatin’.” WOO! Believe it or not, you can ‘bring the heat’ in just over one-minute-and-a-half.  Exhibit A: 🎵 “I.Y.B.” (“If you buck”) courtesy of 🎙 NLE Choppa.  From the get-go, NLE is ready E-A-T on this single from his December 2021 album, 💿 Me Vs. Me.  Things get off to a roaring start thanks to the knocking, malicious-sounding trap beat.  This establishes and solidifies the banger status.  🎛 Quay Global serves up the heat behind the boards, which NLE feeds off (“Cook that shit up, Quay”).

As hard as the beat goes, “I.Y.B.” is all about NLE Choppa.  He drops ferocious, unapologetic, hard-nosed rhymes – straight up raw and nasty! Furthermore, his flow kicks some serious ass – agile, biting, and on autopilot. Woo! The chorus is catchy, matching the grimy, ‘gives no Fs’ vibe of “I.Y.B.”

“Knuck if you buck buck
Glizzy got some big nuts
I’ma get a nigga touched
I had to kill such and such
Knuck if you dumb, bitch
Glizzy got a whole dick
If a nigga move wrong
He gon’ get his ass hit.”

Final Thoughts 💭

Bitmoji ImageHonestly, not much needs to be said about a song that runs just over one-and-a-half-minutes.  NLE Choppa made the short duration worthwhile.  His rhymes are gritty, violent, and reminiscent of the hardcore rap of old despite Choppa’s youth.  It’s not positive, family friendly stuff mind you, but I’m digging what NLE is serving up.
