Nina Luna, Betrayed [Photo Credit: NLY]New York City-based Indie-pop singer, songwriter, and producer Nina Luna returns in compelling and relatable fashion on her therapeutic single, “Betrayed.”

“At the time I wrote this song, I was still carrying around resentment, guilt, blame, and hurt having to do with past relationships. I realized that in order to finally be rid of that wait, I need to face it and process it and feel it.” Wow, that is deep, insightful, and quite a prudent statement from Nina Luna regarding her latest single, “Betrayed.” If you haven’t had the pleasure of hearing the New York City-based indie pop artist, songwriter, and producer, well, you’re totally missing out.  Luna first came on the radar of The Musical Hype in Summer 2018, impressing with her ‘do-it-all’ single, “Keep Me”, which she wrote, recorded, produced, and mixed herself.  Once more, Luna ‘does it all’ on her latest offering, “Betrayed,” released in the chilly, wintry days of January 2019.  Despite the bitter cold, Nina Luna remains hot on a record she also describes as a “thundering pop song featuring orchestral drums, cinematic synths, reflective keys, and powerfully emotional vocals.”

Clearly, Nina Luna knows how to characterize her original music and sell herself.  On “Betrayed,” she offers the listeners nearly four minutes of utter excellence, period.  The record commences with gorgeous accompanying piano (those “reflective keys”), and her authentic, truly compelling vocals.  Essentially, you can feel what she’s feeling as she presents it.  After showing poise and restraint, this record (regarding the aforementioned range of emotions of past relationships) grows more dynamic, more rhythmic, and feels as if Luna is working towards expunging all the bad that’s been holding her back. Given the fever pitch that occurs on the “cinematic” chorus, “Betrayed” sounds like it is truly meant to be therapeutic and cleansing for Luna.  Being the master of self-description that she is, she confirms such:

“‘Betrayed” is about me freeing myself of this victim mentality and coming into a wiser, more mature and open self.”

Final Thoughts

The list of goodness that “Betrayed” serves up is endless. Nina Luna is an artist that more folks need to be aware of, talking about, and most of all, listening to. On “Betrayed,” the songwriting is thoughtful, the vocals pack quite a punch, while the sound (production) – fusing indie and electronic elements – is simply marvelous.  To quote soul legend Al Green, this record is “Simply Beautiful.”
