Nick Jonas, Find You © IslandNick Jonas eschews profanity and rebelliousness on his latest single, “Find You,” a danceable, enjoyable, and infectious joint.

Nick Jonas shocked the world in 2014. How? His self-titled album featured a most unexpected thing – the parental advisory explicit lyrics label.  Gasp! Since then, Jonas joined the rest of the pop and urban crowd, saying explicit, profane things at will.  While much of the last couple of years has found him embracing his young, rebellious side, his latest single, “Find You” isn’t rebellious.  The thing is, this NJ single sans f-bombs is still irresistibly delicious.

“Find You” features excellent use of guitar within the production.  The guitar provides a chill, soulful vibe. Jonas delivers appealing, low-key vocals by on the verses.  The result is a very smooth, nonchalant, and easy-going performance. His tone shines.  Another pro about the vocals is how Jonas embraces his lower register on the chorus. Combined with the sensational production, it makes for quite an impressive timbre overall.

Speaking of the chorus, it’s simple, but incredibly catchy. Like the majority of pop and urban music these days, “Find You” utilizes repetition.  Maybe it dumbs things down to an extent, but in this particular instance, it fits the vibe of the song. “Find You” is danceable, something Nick discussed as he verified the lyrics of the song for Genius. The beat isn’t overdone, but it packs just the right amount of punch, particularly on the chorus.  On the bridge, he ascends higher for the first time.  This feels like the right move at the right time, offering contrast.

Final Thoughts

All in all, Nick Jonas has another winner on his hands with “Find You.”  His low-key, low-register vocals are a fantastic fit.  The production is well executed without being overdone.  The chorus is simple, yet infectious to the nth degree. “Find You” is enjoyable to the nth degree.
