So, without further ado, in the 44th edition of Beaming with Pride ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ (2025), we highlight โ€œUnexplainableโ€ performed by Nemo.

Nemo, Unexplainable [๐Ÿ“ท: Universal Music GmbH]โ€œI canโ€™t explain the way I feel / Whatever happens in my mind / I never know if itโ€™s real / Can a feeling be a lie?โ€ Introspective stuff, Nemo (Nemo Mettler). Notably, Mettler won the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 for their single, โ€œThe Codeโ€. โ€œI reckon it all makes sense somewhere, somehow,โ€ they sing, adding, โ€œBut, ooh, how will I know? / What if Iโ€™m unexplainable?โ€  Perhaps you are, unexplainable, Nemo.  But guess what, a lot of us are! โ€œUnexplainableโ€ is a reflective, thoughtful song by the Swiss nonbinary singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. It appears on his 2025 debut album, Arthouse. Nemo wrote โ€œUnexplainableโ€ with Kellen Pomeranz, Liam Maye, and MIA GLADSTONE. They produced it with Maye and Pom Pom (Pomeranz).

What stands out the most about โ€œUnexplainableโ€ is the vocals.  Nemo has an angelic voice โ€“ celestial! Their tone is buttery smooth while their upper register is incredibly ripe and powerful.  The talent and vocal training are undeniable and awe-inspiring.  They sing authentically and sincerely, selling the unexplainable superbly.  โ€œI rarely  understand my thoughts / I write them down before I sleep,โ€ Mettler asserts in the first verse, continuing, โ€œBut Iโ€™m exactly where I was / Every time I take a read.โ€ They remain confused in the second verse, singing, โ€œI go to bed, I close my eyes / And Iโ€™m a woman in my dreams.โ€ Go figure.  In the chorus (excerpted earlier), the unexplainable continues. Beyond elite, top-notch vocals, marvelous songwriting, and plenty of questions, the sound and production of โ€œUnexplainableโ€ is epic.  There is an ear-catching blend of classical cues, pop, and alternative. As the song progresses, the instrumentation expands, and the musical backdrop grows more dynamic.  Nemo matches the energy with his high-flying, prodigious instrument.  The harmonized vocals are everything. While the โ€œUnexplainableโ€ never resolves โ€“ โ€œWhere do we go? / Do we go? Do we go? / Ooh, how will I know / Iโ€™m unexplainable?โ€ โ€“ There is no doubt about the sheer excellence of this record. Nemo puts their foot into it.  Bravo ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿคฉ!
