LGBTQ Pop singer/songwriter Myylo ends his EP era with his colorfully-titled, five-song EP, My EP Era is Over Now.
It’s official – 🎙 Myylo (Michael Myylo Lewis) is done with his EP Era, or so the title of his five-track EP, 💿 My EP Era is Over Now suggests. For those following this awesome LGBTQ musician, he’d released his 💿 I Do (EP) earlier in 2021, featuring four of the five tracks reprised on My EP Era is Over Now. Adding a brand new song (🎵 “Savage Bop”), Lewis does what he does best – drop B-O-P-S, of course!
“Kissing on Your Dad”
“Came over to play Xbox / I didn’t think I’d meet a sexpot…” Oh snap! Myylo lusts for daddy on the fantastic, absolutely laugh out loud hilarious ✅ 🎵 “Kissing on Your Dad”. “…He came upstairs from his man cave / I had to tell myself to behave.” He takes us on a flirtatious trip where, expectedly, we get a description of the hot dad making young Myylo feel some type of way – “And he’s so damn tall call him Megatron / Votes democrat with the mail-in.” Wow! That said, can you blame him for being turned on? “I want to be the one he’s nailing” definitely sums up quarantine horniness perfectly.
“Bored to Tears”
“And from the minute I hit it I felt we should be friends / I think I need something different, and this isn’t, isn’t it / Don’t feel the sparkies or fireworks when I’m kissing him…” On ✅ 🎵 “Bored to Tears”, Myylo speaks about these boys who just don’t do it for him – “Bored to tears /…with these boys round here.” Regarding the sound, we get a dash of urban-pop production, with the beat being adding a touch of trap. Hip-hop cues and electronic synths aside, Myylo keeps it pop. As always, he gives us that attitude, playful vocals, and of course, fun lyrics. A prime example comes when he describes his particularly the bad date with the “Hank in a tank with a nip slip” from the gym. Oh snap!
“Savage Bop”
“This is a savage bop / I pray to fenty gods / Yeah, I’m as apathetic as a valley goth.” Say what? On ✅ 🎵 “Savage Bop”, the latest track by Myylo, he co-writes with 🎼 ✍ Anna Dellaria and 🎼 ✍ Zack Djurich. As the excerpted lyrics suggest, this record is as colorful as its title. Our beloved artist mostly raps, bringing an agile flow and rhymes that are entertaining AF. Of course, as to be expected, Lewis speaks about his preferred topic of choice – BOYS. “I’m like a wildfire burning boys hearts,” he spits at one point, later captivating with the likes of, “Hokus Pokus witch bitch, I cackle in the dark.” Wow! Of course, Lewis rightfully throws a heartthrob into the mix: “Timmy Chalamet, hit me up to eat his plum / Rum bum, bum, bum, he like how I roll my tongue.” Yeah, he’s exaggerating (I think), but who can blame him for loving some Timothée Chalamet? Worth noting, there’s some singing on “Savage Bop” even if it’s limited, plus, the production is idiomatic of hip-hop-infused pop. Ultimately, on “Savage Bop,” Lewis oozes with personality and his songwriting style is incredibly entertaining.
“Cut Him Off”
“Look babe, I know you’re sad / He’s the best damn dick that you ever had / But I don’t think you were such a match, okay.” Myylo continues to be the gift to LGBTQ+ music community 🏳️🌈 that just keeps on giving on ✅ 🎵 “Cut Him Off”. Backed by a 🎙 Christian Fiore production, “Cut Him Off” is groovy, colorful, and well executed. Myylo is bold and unapologetic from the onset. as he makes it clear this guy was clearly “a fuck boy prodigy” – not worth the energy let alone heartache. Giving advice to a friend dejected by the loss of this no-good dude, Lewis makes it clear that it’s best to “cut him off.” We’re served up great vocals – boyish, bright, enthusiastic, and energetic. The lyrics are on-point, with gems like “I should know I’m the pot you’re the kettle / He’s a spork and that’s dumb utensil.”
“I Do”
Previously the opener on I Do, ✅ 🎵 “I Do,” concludes My EP Era is Over Now. Notably, “I Do” is a bit of a departure for Myylo. He doesn’t lust after a daddy or reference cyborgs. Instead, he focuses on true love, giving you ‘all the feels.’ In some ways, the singer/songwriter strips things down more than usual, unconcerned with novelty and focused merely on enduring, forever love. “I am so glad I’m giving you my heart,” he asserts on the pre-chorus, later stating on the bridge, “I do, I do, do / Wanna grown old with you.” This is a very mature, thoughtful record that should totally tickle any- and everyone’s fancy. Honestly, shifting it to the end makes more sense sequentially.
Final Thoughts 💭
So, how does My EP Era is Over Now stack up? Ultimately, Myylo continues to present himself as the gift that keeps on giving. More folks need to be talking about him – period! I’m personally excited for this transition into his album era – it’s been a long time coming. He’s definitely gifted, gives off great personality in his music, and his songwriting is quite sharp. If every song on this five-song EP is a gem, than just wait until that full-length album drops baby! #SLAYYY!!!
