Myylo, Cyborg [Photo Credit: Myylo]Rising Nashville-based pop musician Myylo continues to prove why he’s ‘got next’ on his short but incredibly sweet single, “Cyborg.”

“I wish that I could make myself a cyborg / Shoot up into space with my jet pack / Bounce around the heavens till I found God / And ask her why I ever let you go, go, go, go…” A ‘cyborg?’ – very, very interesting! Matters of the heart are affecting Nashville-based LGBT pop singer/songwriter Myylo on his brief, uniquely-titled single, “Cyborg.” Myylo first caught my attention in 2019 with his brilliant single, “Jonesing”, which expressed his pain of “wanting a boy who’s just too damn far away,” sigh.  In case you happened to miss that terrific piece of ear candy, it was definitely representative of an artist who “mixes idiosyncratic lyricism, janky classical guitar, lo-fi saxophone licks, and sky-high falsettos to create something truly special.” Clearly, Myylo is one unique musician, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

It’s not every day that a cyborg is referenced in a song, let alone ends up being the song title.  Again, Myylo isn’t your everyday eclectic pop musician.  Essentially, the self-described ‘drama king’ (“Oh god, I’m so dramatic”) drops the aforementioned outlandish chorus to convey his feelings of regret regarding an ex-boyfriend that he let go.  It’s obviously not just the chorus that is colorful.  On the ‘Elton John’, name-dropping first verse, the “Rocket Man” is “Swooping in like a space force cowboy / Tryna get you back.” Yeah, admit it – the lyrics are damn clever.  Furthermore, on the second verse, while he’s less outlandish, he still successfully delivers the “we don’t talk about your boyfriend” because “you’d rather be mine.”

Final Thoughts

The lyrics themselves are enough to make “Cyborg” a bop.  But, there’s so much more greatness beyond the words.  The production is fresh, fusing a palette of sounds encompassing pop, hip-hop, and electronic.  Vocally, Myylo sounds youthful, bursting with enthusiasm and incorporating soulfulness into the mix.  The verdict? All two-minutes-plus of “Cyborg” is another treat from this awesome rising star.
