Myylo, “Being Born Kinda Sucks” | Track Review 🎵

Myylo has a legit point that “Being Born Kinda Sucks” on his colorful, fun, and relatable first single of 2022.

m I loser or a winner? / Catholic priest say I’m a sinner.” WOO! Four words, folks: 🎵 “Being Born Kinda Sucks”! It’s true, and if you’re not convinced, the always fabulous 🎙 Myylo totally convinces.  I’ve had the pleasure of covering the pop singer/songwriter for a couple of years, and he always keeps things fresh. Furthermore, he’s an honest musician who isn’t afraid to champion the LGBTQ 🏳️‍🌈 community. “Being Born Kinda Sucks” marks another intriguing gem, one that continues to show why he’s such a special artist more peeps need to be talking about and spinning.  Also, he switches things up here, opting for a blend of pop/rock and punk-pop (or is it pop-punk?).

Besides the emo/punk elements, “Being Born Kinda Sucks” stands out because it explores existentialism. On the caption for the music video it states:

Myylo has a full scale existential breakdown which leads to a four way conversation with his alter egos. He is visited by Jesus Myylo, Bitchy Myylo, and Detective Myylo as he attempts to figure out exactly why “Being Born Kinda Sucks.”

At some point, everyone has experienced identity issues – an existential crisis (I know I have). Here, Myylo lays his existential crisis right out for the world, in the most fun way possible.  The questions he asks himself are endless, such as “Am I hot or just average / What epithet’s my casket,” while the viable solutions seem harder to come by. This existential crisis makes the lyrics ‘all over the place’ which is the charm.  Of course, the best sections are the repeated ones – pre-chorus and chorus – which highlight supreme confusion, mundaneness, etc.  Also, we get an f-bomb for good measure!

Final Thoughts 💭

As previously stated, Myylo is special.  His latest single, “Being Born Kinda Sucks,” confirms this.  He has a great voice, first and foremost.  Also, he has an adventurous songwriting spirit – he’s quite versatile with his pen.  Honestly, any and everybody should be able to relate to this song in the sense that we all experience an existential crisis.  Once again, he outdoes himself!
