Shakira, El Dorado © SonyIn a quiet new music release week, Shakira and Lil Yachty are the biggest artists releasing new albums on Friday, May 26, 2017. 

Call Friday, May 26, 2017, the calm before the storm.  There are few big music releases arriving this week.  The two biggest names: Shakira (El Dorado) and Lil Yachty (Teenage Emotions).  Is either album a surefire hit? Probably not, but as aforementioned, June 2, 2017, will atone for the scant number of new music releases.

 

1. Shakira, El Dorado

Latin pop superstar Shakira returns with El Dorado, her first new album in three years.  El Dorado follows 2014 her English-language pop LP, Shakira., which spawned a hit with “Can’t Forget to Remember You,” featuring Rihanna.  El Dorado is a Spanish language album.  Comprised of 13 songs, six arrived ahead of the album: “Me Enamoré,” “Nada,” “Chantaje” featuring Maluma, “Comme moi,” “La Bicicleta,” and “Déjà vu.” Besides Maluma, Nicky Jam and MAGIC! guest on El Dorado.

After releasing his mixtape, Lil Boat, Lil Yachty drops his proper debut album, Teenage Emotions.  Comprised of an ambitious 21 songs, four singles arrived ahead of Teenage Emotions: “Peek a Boo” (featuring Migos), “Harley,” “X Men” (featuring Evander Griim), and “Bring It Back.” In addition to the aforementioned guests, other featured guests include YG, Kamaiyah, Stefflon Don, Diplo, Grace, and Sonyae Elise.

Versatile R&B musician Maysa returns with Love is a Battlefield, her first album in two years.  Love is a Battlefield follows her 2015 effort, Back 2 Love.  Comprised of 10 tracks, the title track arrived prior to the album.  There are no guest features.
