Imagine Dragons (‘Evolve’) and DJ Khaled (‘Grateful’) both issue highly-anticipated albums during an extremely busy new music Friday.

Ah, July 23, 2017 – another Friday which means another crop of new music releases! July 2017 has been on fire and Friday, July 23, is no different.  Top heavy, new albums from Imagine Dragons (Evolve) and DJ Khaled (Grateful) lead the charge of fresh music blood.  Imagine Dragons and DJ Khaled aren’t the only acts in action.  Prince and Radiohead drop hot reissues, while Vince Staples, 311, Bone Thugs, and Jaymes Young drop newbies. Here’s the rundown!

#1. Imagine Dragons, Evolve

Imagine Dragons returns with their highly anticipated third album, Evolve.  Evolve arrives nearly three years after their sophomore album, Smoke + Mirrors (September 2014). Comprised of 11 tracks, four singles arrived prior to the album: “Whatever It Takes,” “Believer,” “Walking the Wire,” and “Thunder.”  There are no guest features on the project.

#2. DJ Khaled, Grateful

DJ Khaled wastes no time returning with his latest compilation album, Grateful.  Grateful arrives less than a year after his no. 1, Grammy-nominated effort, Major Key (July 2016).  Grateful is comprised of 23 tracks.  Four singles arrived ahead of the album: “Shining” featuring Beyoncé & Jay-Z, “To the Max” featuring Drake, “Wild Thoughts” featuring Rihanna & Bryson Tiller, and “I’m the One” featuring Justin Bieber, Quavo, Chance the Rapper & Lil Wayne.  Naturally, the project features numerous guests features.

#3. Prince, Purple Rain (Deluxe)

Prince’s seminal classic Purple Rain is reissued in a deluxe, expanded edition.  This includes the 2015 Paisley Park remasters of the core album with the Revolution, various edits and mixes with The Revolution, and additional solo tracks by Prince.  All told, the expanded edition is comprised of a hearty 35 songs.  Three songs were issued prior to the release of the expanded edition: “Electric Intercourse,” “Our Destiny / Roadhouse Garden,” and “Father’s Song.”

#4. Vince Staples, Big Fish Theory

Vince Staples returns with his sophomore album, Big Fish Theory.  Big Fish Theory follows his 2015 critically-acclaimed, if underrated debut, Summertime ’06.  Big Fish Theory is a slimmer affair than Summertime ’06, comprised of 12 songs that span just one disc as opposed to two.  Three singles were issued prior to the album: “Big Fish,” “BagBak,” and “Rain Come Down.”

#5. 311, Mosaic

Veteran rock band 311 returns after a three-year hiatus with MOSAIC.  MOSAIC serves as the follow-up to Stereolithic, which was released in March 2014. 17 tracks deep, three singles arrived prior to the album: “Too Much to Think,” “Perfect Mistake,” and “Too Late.”

#6. Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, New Waves

Midwest darlings Bone Thugs-n-Harmony return quietly with New Waves, their first album in nearly four years.  Interestingly, they strip “n-Harmony” off their name in favor of just Bone Thugs.  New Waves follows their December 2013 LP, The Art of War: World War III.  Comprised of 15 songs in the bonus track edition, three songs arrived prior to the album: “Coming Home” featuring Stephen Marley, “If Heaven Had a Cellphone” featuring Tank, and “Fantasy” featuring Jesse Rankins.  New Waves features an assortment of guests.

#7. Radiohead, OK Computer OKNOTOK 1997 2017

Radiohead reissues their classic album, OK Computer in honor of its 20^th anniversary.  Comprised of two discs, one new single was issued ahead of OK Computer OKNOTOK 1997 2017 (“I Promise”).  All told, OK Computer OKNOTOK 1997 2017 features 23 songs, which includes the standard album and unreleased tracks.

#8. Jaymes Young, Feel Something

Up-and-coming alternative artist, Jaymes Young, drops his major label debut, Feel Something.  The 25-year old singer- songwriter dropped six singles ahead of Feel Something: “Stoned on You,” “Don’t You Know,” “Stone,” “Feel Something,” “We Won’t” featuring Phoebe Ryan, and “I’ll Be Good.”  All told, Feel Something runs 12 tracks deep.
