8.04.2017 New Releases © Atlantic, Hickman Holler, ReachBrett Eldredge (Brett Eldredge) leads the music shopping list for the first music release date of August 2017 (August 4, 2017).

July 2017 is officially behind us, and you know what that means? It’s a new month with new music.  August begins rather quietly though – no offense to the artists dropping new albums.  The biggest release of the bunch comes from country artist Brett Eldredge.  While Eldredge has done well for himself, his third solo album isn’t considered a blockbuster release.  Nonetheless, he leads the charge for this low-key August 4, 2017 music release date.  He’s joined by Tyler Childers, Andy Mineo & Wordsplayed, A$AP Twelvyy, Dylan Scott, and Now 63

Country music singer Brett Eldredge returns with his third studio album, Brett Eldredge.  The self-titled effort serves as the follow-up to his 2015 album, Illinois.  Comprised of 12 songs, singles “The Long Way,” and “Somethin’ I’m Good At” arrived ahead of the album.  Unlike Illinois, there are no guest features on Brett Eldredge.

Kentucky pride in the house! Americana musician Tyler Childers hails from my home state, The Bluegrass state, specifically Lawrence County.  Purgatory marks his debut album, which is described on his Facebook page as a “semiautobiographical sketch of Childers’ growth from wayward youth to happily married man, told in the tradition of a Southern gothic novel with a classic noir antihero who may just be irredeemable.” Geez, what can you say to that? Another cool fact? It’s co-produced by Sturgill Simpson, who is a beast.  Comprised of 10 songs, singles “Whitehouse Road,” “Universal Sound,” and “Lady May” were issued in advance of the album.

Christian rappers Andy Mineo and Wordsplayed drop a joint mixtape, Andy Mineo and Wordsplayed Present Magic & Bird.  For Mineo, the mixtape arrives two years after his solo album, Uncomfortable (2015).  As for Wordsplayed, this joint mixtape arrives a year after his solo mixtape, Clowntown (2016).  Comprised of 13 songs, four singles arrived prior to the project: “Kidz,” “Dunk Contest (Magic Bird),” “Judo” featuring Judo, and “Lay Up.”

Ah, another member of the A$AP Mob drops a solo album.  Up until this point, A$AP Rocky and A$AP Ferg were the prominent members of the Mob.  Naturally, both members appear on 12, the debut album by A$AP Twelvyy.  Comprised of 14 songs, four singles arrived in advance of the album: “Strapped,” “Diamonds” featuring A$AP Rocky, “Yea Yea Yea  (Maps),” and “Periodic Table.”

After releasing his self-titled debut in 2016, Dylan Scott reissues Dylan Scott in a deluxe edition.  Comprised of 16 tracks, “Hooked” serves as the promo single for the expanded edition.  Safe to say, the Louisianan country artist is coming up.

Now 63 © UMG/Sony6. Now That’s What I Call Music, Vol. 63

Ah, nothing like another installment of the Now music series during a slow week, right? The latest installment is comprised of 22 tracks, including DJ Khaled (“I’m the One”), The Chainsmokers featuring Coldplay (“Something Just Like This”), and Kendrick Lamar (“Humble.”) among numerous others.
