Ah, April 21, 2017 – the third Friday in April! Every Friday represents just one thing in the music world – new music release day! Enough screamers (aka exclamation marks) for one post! April 21, 2017 isn’t a particularly exciting week for new music, but there are some worthwhile new releases to check out courtesy of Brad Paisley, Incubus, blackbear, and Sheryl Crow. 

1. Brad Paisley

Love and War

Veteran country artist Brad Paisley returns with Love and War, his first album since Moonshine in the Trunk arrived in August 2014. Comprised of 16 tracks, five singles were issued prior to Love and War: “Heaven South,” “Last Time for Everything,” “Today,” “Selfie#Theinternetisforever,” and “Gold All Over the Ground.”  Featured guests are Mick Jagger, John Fogerty, Timbaland, and Bill Anderson.

Island

Alternative rock band Incubus returns with its eighth studio album, fittingly titled 88 follows If Not Now, When?, which was released in July 2011. Comprised of 11 songs, four songs arrived prior to the album’s release: “Nimble Bastard,” “State of the Art,” “Glitterbomb,” and “Undefeated.”

Blackbear drops his second project of 2017, following his collaborative effort mansionz with Mike Posner (mansionz).  Digital druglord serves as the follow-up to Help, which arrived in February 2016.  Beyond Help, blackbear also released an EP, Cashmere Noose, which arrived in November.  Focusing on digital druglord, it’s comprised of 10 tracks, with three singles arriving prior to the album: “do re mi,” “if I could I would feel nothing,” and “make daddy proud.”

Sheryl Crow returns with an under-the-radar new album, Be MyselfBe Myself arrives more than three years after her last album, Feels Like Home (September 2013).  Comprised of 11 tracks, three songs arrived prior to the album: “Halfway There,” “Long Way Back,” and “Be Myself.”
