SCANNING THE CHARTS is just what it says it is.  I, the quirky founder and do-it-all at The Musical Hype scans through the Billboard Charts and picks out things that catch my eye.  To reiterate what I said last week (📉 Taylor Swift Spends 3rd Week at No. 1 with Evermore), this column won’t be extensive, but rather short and sweet, keeping that 💩 moving.  This week, I picked out FIVE notable observations 🔎 from the Billboard 200 📉,  and FIVE observations 🔎 from the Billboard Hot 100 📉, with 🎙 Morgan Wallen debuting in commanding fashion atop the Billboard 200 with 💿 Dangerous: The Double Album.

Billboard 200 📉

💭 As expected, Morgan Wallen easily debuts atop the Billboard 200 with his sophomore album, 💿 Dangerous: The Double Album. Per Keith Caulfield of Billboard, Wallen moved a robust 265,000 units, in addition to becoming the rare country album to debut at no. 1 in recent times.

💭 After reclaiming the no. 1 spot last week, 🎙 Taylor Swift sees 💿 Evermore slip to no. 2.  Don’t feel too sorry for Ms. Swift, who had one heck of a successful year in 2020 – understatement.

💭 After a six-year hiatus, 🎙 Jazmine Sullivan not only released a comeback album, 💿 Heaux Tales (it’s EP depending on who you ask, despite being 14 tracks/32 minutes long), but also debuts at no. 4, the first top-five album of her career.

💭 🎙 Paul McCartney sees 💿 McCartney III just hang on to a spot on the charts.  In its fourth week, McCartney III freefalls from no. 90 to no. 200.  Ouch!

💭 After returning to no. 1 for two consecutive weeks, 🎙 24kGoldn and 🎙 iann dior fall to no. 2 with their dominant hit single, 🎵 “Mood.”
