MONSTA X, "SOMEONE'S SOMEONE" [Photo Credit: Epic]South Korean pop collective MONSTA X releases an appealing, innocent, and relatable, English exclusive single in “SOMEONE’S SOMEONE.”

“We all wanna be someone’s / Wanna be someone’s, someone / With somebody we can’t live without.” K-Pop collective MONSTA X definitely has a point on the chorus of their single, “SOMEONE’S SOMEONE.”  Although this pop single doesn’t even reach two-and-half minutes in duration, it’s pretty sweet, and as the aforementioned lyrics suggest, quite relatable.

Often times, with K-Pop, sometimes the literal translations of the lyrics can be hair from an analytical standpoint.  If you’ve checked out The Musical Hype long enough, you know that lyrics are part of the modus operandi when reviewing songs in particular.  Here, on “SOMEONE’S SOMEONE,” MONSTA X does all the translation for us. Actually, they didn’t have to do any – it’s exclusively in English. Lyrically, it’s pretty straightforward, as the boys focus on everybody’s favorite topic, LOVE.  A perfect example of the successful simplicity arrives on the second verse, where the collective essentially commentates on how we try to be perfect in order to attain love:

“Sick of being perfect
Perfect with no reason
Reasons are for people
You’re meant to lose
Someone’s full of secrets
Secrets in the shadows
Shadows leave excuses
Breaking through.”

Final Thoughts

All in all, MONSTA X shines on the soundly produced and executed “SOMEONE’S SOMEONE.”  Why is this a success for the K-Pop collective? Well, it’s simple, relatable, and totally inoffensive.  You might argue it’s a bit sanitized, as some boy band music can be, but ultimately, the innocence bodes well in group’s favor.
