Moneybagg Yo Returns to the Top: Scanning the Charts πŸ“‰ No. 20 [πŸ“·: Brent Faulkner, CMG, Interscope, The Musical Hype, N-Less]Scanning the Charts (5/22/21): Rapper Moneybagg Yo returns to the top of the Billboard 200 with A Gangsta’s Pain.

SCANNING THE CHARTS is just what it says it is.  I, the quirky founder and do-it-all at The Musical Hype scans through the Billboard Charts and picks out things that catch my eye. This column isn’t extensive, but rather short and sweet.  This week, I’ll merely examine the Billboard 200 πŸ“‰ where I’ve picked out 10 notable observations with πŸŽ™ Moneybagg Yo’s return to the penthouse leading the charge.

Billboard 200 πŸ“‰

πŸ’ Memphis rapper πŸŽ™ Moneybagg Yo returns to no. 1 on the Billboard 200 with πŸ’Ώ A Gangsta’s Pain after slipping to no. 2 last week. He knocks πŸŽ™ DJ Khaled out of the top spot.  πŸ’Ώ KHALED KHALED slips to no. 3.

πŸ’ As noted by Keith Caulfield in his write-up, πŸŽ™ Dua Lipa is the sole female artist with an entry in the top-10 on the Billboard 200 as her πŸ† Grammy-winning album, πŸ’Ώ Future Nostalgia, ascends from no. 7 to no. 5.  Worth noting, in the top-20 overall, there are few albums by women: πŸŽ™ Ariana Grande (πŸ’Ώ Positions, no. 18) and πŸŽ™ Taylor Swift (πŸ’Ώ Fearless (Taylor’s Version), no. 19).

πŸ’ πŸŽ™ Weezer just misses the top 10. πŸ’Ώ Van Weezer debuts at no. 11.  Beyond Weezer, the only other debut in the top 20 hails from πŸŽ™ Tee Grizzley, who sees πŸ’Ώ Built for Whatever launch at no. 15.

πŸ’ The only other debut in the top-50 of the chart hails from πŸŽ™ Toosii at no. 25 (πŸ’Ώ Thank You For Believing). πŸŽ™ Jack Ingram, πŸŽ™ Miranda Lambert, and πŸŽ™ Jon Randall just miss the top echelon as πŸ’Ώ The Marfa Tapes launches at no. 51.

πŸ’ Following his top-10 debut last week (at no. 10), πŸŽ™ Thomas Rhett experiences a 34-spot fall with πŸ’Ώ Country Again (Side A).

πŸ’ πŸŽ™ Kenny Chesney reenters the charts at no. 69 with πŸ’Ώ Here and Now, which was reissued in deluxe form.  This week marks just the 11th week overall the album has spent on the Billboard 200.

πŸ’ πŸŽ™ Quando Rondo debuts on the Billboard 200 – just not very notably.  πŸ’Ώ Still Taking Risks experiences a tepid no. 101 start.

πŸ’ πŸŽ™ dodie launches at no. 115 with Build a Problem.  Not exactly an electrifying launch, of course.

πŸ’ Perhaps the most disappointing debut of the week goes to πŸŽ™ Bebe Rexha who sees her sophomore album, πŸ’Ώ Better Mistakes, limp onto the Billboard 200 at no. 140.  Sadly, there’s just so little buzz around Rexha.

πŸ’ Although Bebe Rexha experiences the most disappointing debut on the Billboard 200, relative to success she’s had on the Billboard Hot 100, there were worse debuts.  πŸŽ™ Lil Poppa, for example, launches at an unimpressive no. 160 with πŸ’Ώ Blessed, I Guess.
