Although Mike WiLL-Made It assembles a star-studded cast comprised of Rae Sremmurd, Big Sean, Quavo, and Pharrell, single “Aries (YuGo) Part 2” is merely good, not particularly great.

Mike WiLL Made-It has indeed “made it” as one of the “it” producers of modern times.  On his latest single “Aries (YuGo) Part 2,” the highly-demanded producer enlists Rae Sremmurd and Big Sean for the assist.  If they are considered the lead artists,Quavo and Pharrell Williams are considered the featured guests.  Regardless, “Aries (YuGo) Part 2” is a star-studded, four-and-a-half-minute event.

Pharrell Williams kicks things off with the sung pre-chorus and chorus sections.  He sings in his signature, distinct fashion over relatively light, tasty, minor-key production.  What’s not light about the production are the drums, where “Aries (YuGo) Part 2” digs in the most.  Swae Lee continues the pitched nature of the record, singing the first verse. The results are successful.  Quavo provides some ad-libs on the following chorus, before pop-rapping the second verse.  A Big Sean verse, the first un-pitched performance of the effort follows. Sean doesn’t say much, but then has anybody said much up until this point?

The other half of Rae Sremmurd, Slim Jxmmi, gets into the mix on the fourth verse, which segues from the third.  The flavor is pitched once more, contrasting Big Sean. Pharrell closes things out with a short bridge before dropping a variant of the chorus.

“You see that watch, that’s made of glass (Yugo)

It’s on the wrist that grip the bag (Yugo)

What was that spaceship ridin’ past (Yugo)

Oh, that’s the n***a with the bag (that Yugo, Yugo, Yugo) …”

Final Thoughts

So, what’s the final verdict on “Aries (YuGo) Part 2?” Enjoyable enough, but nothing too wild, crazy, or extremely special.  Despite being star-studded, personally, I’ve heard all of these artists perform better and more memorably. This isn’t a bad record, but it also doesn’t incite hooting and hollering because of its greatness.
