Meghan Trainor, Let you Be Right [Photo Credit: Epic]Grammy-winning pop artist Meghan Trainor returns with “Let You Be Right,” her second single released in 2018.

“Woo!” First things first. It should be noted that pop singer Meghan Trainor is a Grammy-winner.  That’s quite a prestigious honor.  That said, artistically, Trainor has her fair share of skeptics.  Critics were quick to criticize here 2016 album, Thank You, specifically singles “No!” and “Me Too.” Despite the criticism and lack of awards success with album number two, Trainor seems to be building up to her third album, with singles “No Excuses”“Let You Be Right,” and “Can’t Dance.”

Both of the verses on “Let You Be Right” are relatively short.  On the first verse, Trainor reminds her man that he loves her, “When I break things, make things / A little bit uncomfy.” On the second verse, she urges him to trust her, “‘Cause I say shit I don’t mean / Words for me ain’t easy.” Okay then.  Both verses are followed by a pre-chorus where Trainor wants both of them to stop behaving badly essentially.  She confirms, on the chorus, she is conceding ‘being right’ essentially.

“I don’t wanna fight tonight, I’m a let you be right…

We can make up if you just kiss me at the next traffic light

I don’t wanna fight tonight, I’m a let you be right, let you be right.”

Final Thoughts

Beyond analysis lyrics and theme, “Let You Be Right” has its moments. The production is appealing – groovy, modern, and well-rounded.  Vocally, Meghan Trainor gives a strong performance.  Does she have a homerun with “Let You Be Right?”  This is a good, respectable offering, but it doesn’t feel like a surefire hit.
