Bold and unapologetic, rapper Megan Thee Stallion delivers a surefire bop with her second single of 2020, โB.I.T.C.H.โ
โIโd rather be a B-I-T-C-H (Iโd rather keep it real with ya) / โCause thatโs what you gonโ call me when Iโm trippinโ anyway.โ Sure, Megan Thee Stallion โ whatever you say. The rapper indeed keeps it real (100, if you will) on her unapologetic single, โB.I.T.C.H.โ Honestly, the title says it all, right? And if thatโs NOT enough, the aforementioned excerpt provides confirmation, continuing, โYou know you canโt control me, baby, you need a real one in your life / Them bitches ainโt gonโ give it to you right.โ
Even though Megan Thee Stallion is bold lyrically, โB.I.T.C.H.โ features a smooth, chill backdrop, contrasting her edginess superbly. She can thank Helluva Beats for the production. That said, she also owes a couple of lit samples gratitude. Who does she need to also thank? That would be Bootsyโs Rubber Band (โIโd Rather Be with Youโ) and 2Pac (โRather Be Ya N__โ). Of course, itโs not all the sound of the record โ Megan does some serious work. Sheโs on-point from the opening tip. On the first verse, she unloads a bullet with the line, โWhy you wanna play with me? You know Iโm undefeated / A real hot girl know how to keep a nigga heated.โ Damn. The second verse โis like unto the first,โ regarding the attitude:
โI got my mind on gettingโ paid, we ainโt spoke in some days He probably thinkinโ Iโm in pain, but Iโm really on game Ainโt no nigga finna stop me, independent, I got me.โ
Final Thoughts
So, how does โB.I.T.C.H.โ stack up? Itโs bold and explicit, but Megan Thee Stallion certainly delivers. The production is a huge selling point, with the smoothness contrasting the edgy, unapologetic bars of Megan. Furthermore, the chorus is catchy and quite memorable. All in all, โB.I.T.C.H.โ gets my seal of approval.
