Meek Mill, Wins and Losses © AtlanticMeek Mill kicks off ‘Meek Mill season’ with his new single, “Glow Up.” “Glow Up” is a good turn-up track, but by no means the second coming.

As fans say, “Meek Mill season” is about to be unleashed.  The MMG rapper returns with a new single, entitled “Glow Up.” The question is, did Mill jack the name from the Mary J. Blige song he guests on from her Strength of a Woman album? Regardless, “Glow Up” has the potential to blow up…maybe.

Da Honorable C.N.O.T.E. produces “Glow Up,” presumed to be the single from the rapper’s third proper studio album. The production work for is respectable – it’s not overproduced or overwrought. Ultimately, it proves to be perfect fuel for Meek Mill’s fire. He has mad energy on the single, which is apparent from the jump.  He flexes beginning with the first verse when he raps, “Yeah, I’m laughin’ to the bank / All new blue baby Franks.” The flex-fest continues, as Mill describes his sexual experience:

“Pussy left me baptized / Gave me head until I faint, woo…/ I finesse her out them panties / I hit raw dog, get a Plan B, hoe.”

Later, on the second verse, he establishes himself as the ultimate stud. He brags:

“Yeah, ate that pussy she lucky / I don’t f*ck her she f*ck me…”

Meek Mill goes on to be a bit blasphemous on the pre-chorus, while also referencing an earlier hit, “Amen.”

“I say, Lord be my savior / When it come to gettin’ this paper / Please protect me from my haters / Just save me and I won’t save her / Say Amen (amen, amen, amen, amen) / Yeah, they’re fuckboys and they can’t win… / Check, check, check, check”

On the chorus, he proceeds to glow up:

“Glowin’ up, glowin’ up, glowin’ up / We in this b*tch and we goin’ up…”

Ultimately, it’s hard to decipher what Mill is spitting.  It seems that he lets the energy get the best of him. Perhaps, he’s a bit too hyped.

Final Thoughts

“Glow Up” is a great track to turn up to.  It’s not a very mature, grown up track, but if getting the audience hyped up is the goal, Mill passes with flying colors.  Still, as far as substance and covering new ground, haven’t we heard this from him before?
