Not encouraging or promoting ‘false idolatry’, but rising New York pop artist MAX continues to impress on his latest single, “Worship.”
Max Schneider, better known as MAX, released his official debut project, Hell’s Kitchen Angel, in 2016. The rising pop musician still hasn’t quite broken through to the mainstream but has definitely experienced a taste of success. 2018 has certainly been a productive year for the rising New York pop artist, including his latest single, “Worship.”
“Worship” features slick, modern pop production, with electronic and urban contemporary elements. There is a superb choice of synths, and a tight beat. As much of a nod as the production gets, the crowning achievement of the record are the compelling vocals by MAX. Schneider excels with both his gritty, nuanced parts as well as his absolutely filthy, pure falsetto. On the verses, he discusses the perks and possibilities of love. These perks include living “in the moment,” as well as “waking up in Paris.” On the pre-chorus, he essentially calls his baby a goddess, who he’s totally willing to ‘worship like it’s Sunday.’
“I don’t know where you came from babe
I’ll worship you like it’s a Sunday
Just keep on doing what you done babe
Yeah-eh-eh / Won’t delay, I’m ready.”
On the centerpiece, the chorus, MAX is willing to do any and everything for his baby.
“Just tell me what you wanna do
‘Cause I’ll go anywhere that your love is
I’ll follow if you make a move
‘Cause everywhere you’re going, I’m coming
Take me to places I have never been
I’m riding with you till the very end
‘Cause baby ooh
Anywhere you go, I will, worship you like it’s a Sunday.”
By the distinct, contrasting bridge, everything “feels right / So right” in MAX’s eyes, ultimately because “it’s our time.”
Final Thoughts
“Worship” ends up being yet another fantastic single by MAX. As aforementioned, the best part of the single is his voice. He sings his butt off.
