Matthew Orgel, I Wish This Pillow Was You [๐Ÿ“ท: Lamp Please]โ€œShitty morning, feeling broken / Wanna call you โ€˜cause Iโ€™m not one for healthy coping.โ€ Itโ€™s sounding like a total bummer, Matthew Orgel.ย  Matters of the heart fuel his โ€˜shitty morningโ€™ on โ€œI Wish This Pillow Was Youโ€.ย  The opening lines preface how relatable this pop song is. Whether youโ€™re gay, straight, bi, or otherwise, the feelings that Orgel expresses speak volumes.ย  But, you know whatโ€™s not shitty? Orgelโ€™s musicianship! A 2022 graduate of the Berklee College of Music, he has a stellar voice, including a ripe, youthful falsetto, awesome songwriting chops (his degree), and is a multi-instrumentalist including playing the best instrument of them all, the piano (Iโ€™m biased, admittedly)! He penned โ€œI Wish This Pillow Was Youโ€ alongside Camila Solis.ย  He also produced this fine, honest number.

pride heart burstThe young musician shines from the opening to the closing tip of โ€œI Wish This Pillow Was You.โ€ When it comes to this man, he admittedly canโ€™t help himself, and thatโ€™s not good. โ€œGot no self-control, someone take my phone / Before I text you and youโ€™re taking off my clothes,โ€ he sings, continuing, โ€œโ€˜Cause every time you end up back in my bed / It takes a week for me to clear up my head.โ€ Oh, snap! So, whatโ€™s the problem with this โ€˜relationshipโ€™? Itโ€™s not a relationship.ย  Itโ€™s giving FWB, and Orgel acknowledges heโ€™s nothing more than fun for this guy he canโ€™t get enough of.ย  He wants their fun to be more but knows it wonโ€™t happen. Still, โ€œBut damn, youโ€™re just my type / And I wish this pillow was you.โ€ Self-destructive, Matt suffers from sheets that smell like this hottie heโ€™ll never attain, and being left on read, yet, still wants him badly.ย  As they say, the definition of insanity โ€œis doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different resultsโ€.ย  Is Matthew Orgel insane? Probably not, but, โ€˜likeโ€™ and love will make you do crazy things, hence why heโ€™s willing to subject himself to less than he deserves. โ€œI Wish This Pillow Was Youโ€ is not only a sweet addition to the growing collection of gay bops but also a cautionary tale regarding unrequited love.ย  Sex and love are not the same thing.ย  Even if it feels good physically, emotionally, it can be damaging and detrimental.
