Mason Ramsey, Famous © Big LoudAfter becoming a viral sensation following a yodeling performance at his local Wal-Mart, 11-year old Mason Ramsey, signed to Big Loud, releases his debut country single, “Famous.”

Often times, the ascent to fame is slow and excruciating. 11-year old Mason Ramsey definitely has a completely different experience. One viral video of the ‘yodeling Wal-Mart kid’ has translated into a record deal with Atlantic (Big Loud).

And to think, it’s usually rappers that have illustrious tales of their come-up! Ramsey releases his first single post-yodel, “Famous.” Hmm, wonder what “Famous” is about?

“Don’t get me wrong, it’s pretty cool to be on TV.” That’s how Mason Ramsey kicks off the first verse, speaking about his newfound fame.  The come-up is a popular topic, but Ramsey, being the pre-teen that he is, has his mind on something else.  “But, girl, ever since I met you / I got a whole new perspective.” Love’s brewing, apparently, well at least according to the songwriters, which include Canaan Smith and Tyler Hubbard (Florida Georgia Line).  The cards are revealed on the good-ole, countrified chorus.

“If I’m gonna be famous for somethin’

I wanna be famous for lovin’ you

If I’m gonna be known around the world

I wanna because of you girl

Nothin’ wrong with the center of attention

Long as I’m with you, I don’t mind the pictures

If I’m gonna be famous for somethin’

Girl, I wanna be famous for lovin’ you

Famous for lovin’ you.”

Final Thoughts

The biggest takeaway from “Famous” is that Mason Ramsey is a talented kid who will only get better as he matures.  As it stands now, he sounds great on “Famous” – lots of potential.  The song and the production itself suits him, even if there’s no yodeling, which made him famous (see what we did there). The future is bright for Mason.
