Grammy-winning R&B superstar Mary J. Blige makes a fierce return on “Amazing,” featuring fellow Grammy winner, DJ Khaled.

Strength of a Woman, arrived in 2017. Now it’s late 2021 and no new album has arrived – bummer! The good news is that MJB has released a couple of strong new singles, including

“Amazing” featuring DJ Khaled. Just like on “Good Morning Gorgeous” released at the same time, the ‘Queen of Hip-Hop Soul’ is back, baby!

“Amazing” is energetic from the jump. MJB gets the DJ Khaled treatment on the intro – you know how Khaled does it! Additionally, he’s credited to the banging production work alongside Streetrunner, and Tarik Azzouz. Giving the production a lift is a Dawn Penn sample, “You Don’t Love Me (No, No, No)”. Although she’s a vet, MJB sounds fresh, revitalized, and young on this brief banger (2:40). I love the aggressive approach and attitude that she brings to the table. Furthermore, I love the rhythmic, melodic rap delivery on the verses. The chorus is infectious and feel good – undoubtedly the centerpiece.

Just like “Good Morning Gorgeous” played to her strengths, this song does to, showing her ability to hang with the kids and not compromise her artistry in the least. She reminds us that’s she’s truly elite.
