Logic & Marshmello, Everyday © Def JamDJ/producer Marshmello and Grammy-nominated rapper Logic make a formidable team on their enjoyable single, “Everyday.”

Marshmello has been on fire throughout 2017-18, dropping numerous singles alongside the likes of Selena Gomez, Migos, and Lil Peep. This time, he enlists Logic as his partner in crime for single, “Everyday.” The production by Marshmello is slick as always.  Sometimes, he opts for smoother sounds smoother, while at other times, he opts for a harder, punchier palette.  Among his arsenal of sounds are hard drums, gentler pads, biting synths, and an anchoring bass line.  Despite whether or not the synths are edgier or subtler, “Everyday” is set in a minor key. Ultimately, he successfully blends an electronic and hip-hop backdrop.

Focusing some attention on Logic, he’s in his ‘normal place’ you might say. He’s profane from the very start of the chorus, which he sings.

“I work hard every motherf*cking day / I work hard, I work hard every day… / But today is my day, it’s my day / And no matter what they say, it’s my day…”

What’s notable about the rapper’s performance is his melodic approach. The sound is reminiscent of the pop-rap oriented sound of his more meaningful hit, “1-800-273-8255.”  He does break from his melodic flow in spots, delivering his maddening, incredibly agile rhymes sans pitch.

Final Thoughts

All in all, Marshmello and Logic make a great team.  “Everyday” isn’t the second coming or anything, but it’s a solid, enjoyable collaboration.  Great production from the DJ/producer, and a killer flow from the Grammy-nominated MC.
