arsha Swanson’s latest single, β€œLike An Angel” is available now as a stand-alone track, and I have to say, it was well worth the wait. As someone who has been following her path for a while, I was eager to learn how this long-lost track from β€˜Near Life Experienceβ€˜ would be recreated.

From the first note of β€˜Like An Angelβ€˜, a sense of warmth swept over me; something I have to say rarely happens. The interplay between the live band and the string section creates an atmosphere that is both airy and thoroughly grounded. Marsha’s vocals have a certain quality to them. Every phrase sounds intimate, as if she’s talking directly to me.

What truly struck me about β€˜Like An Angelβ€˜ was its intimacy. The new arrangement, recorded at Echo Zoo Studios, adds new vigour to the song while preserving its heart. Henry Thomas’ creation is superb, perfectly combining everything. Martyn Barker’s quiet yet strong drumming and Tony Qunta’s haunting guitar work provide so much depth and character to the tune that it truly stands out.

If you enjoy Kate Bush or Tori Amos, this song will make you feel right at home. It has the same haunting beauty and profound reflection that lingers long after the final note has faded. Even if you haven’t heard Marsha’s music before, β€˜Like An Angelβ€˜ is an excellent introduction to her work.
