Marc Anthony, Will Smith & Bad Bunny, Está Rico [Photo Credit: Sony]In one of the year’s more unlikely collaboration, Marc Anthony, Will Smith, and Bad Bunny join forces on the enjoyable Latin pop single, “Está Rico.”

Some collaborations just throw you for a loop.  That’s the case with the collaboration at hand.  Marc Anthony and Bad Bunny isn’t incredibly far-fetched, yet both Latin artists have two very different styles.  Where things get totally surprising is when Will Smith, who hasn’t rapped much in years, is included in the mix.  The result is an enjoyable Latin pop single, “Está Rico.”

“Está Rico” features moody, minor key vibes from the onset.  The production work is slick – gotta love the sounds used throughout.  Fittingly, the intro features each of the three artists.  The pre-chorus and chorus are sung by Marc Anthony, exclusively in Spanish. The chorus is repetitive, but certainly effective.

“Que esto está rico…

Tú sabes que esto está rico

Que está rico…

Tú sabes que esto está rico.”

Will Smith spits the first verse, exclusively in English.

“Hola, yes, it’s the Prince
In an unmarked car with the tints
Marc Anthony with the new anthem
Yeah, I know, is a lil’ intense.”

Bad Bunny serves up his brand of Latin trap-soul on the second verse.  This is a respectable contrast to the smoother approach by Anthony. As usual, Bad Bunny is sexually-charged… He’s young, and simply has those type of things on his mind.  Anyways, Anthony drops the third verse, followed by a Spanish bridge courtesy of Will Smith. Things close out with a pre-chorus by Anthony, as well as a chorus mostly performed by Anthony, with assists from Smith and Bad Bunny.

Final Thoughts

All in all, “Está Rico” is an enjoyable, superstar-filled record.  It won’t change your world, but, it’s definitely worthwhile.  Solid production, solid musical contributions from each artist – it works.
