“Savor

every moment ‘til she has to go / ‘Cause her boyfriend is the rock ‘n’ roll.” Woo! Thanks for letting us know, 🎙 Damiano David.  David and Italian band 🎙 Måneskin are back with their first new single of 2022, 🎵 “SUPERMODEL”.  In the brief two-and-a-half-minute number, David depicts a wild girl who does just about everything.  Interestingly, the band focuses on the 90s as the era which the nameless supermodel lives in.  Notably, “SUPERMODEL” features eight songwriters including 🎼✍ Justin Tranter, who always does a fabulous job where writing is concerned. Furthermore, this funky cut is produced by a star-studded team: 🎛 Rami Yacoub, 🎛 Max Martin, and 🎛 Sly.  Firepower, baby!

Damiano David does a fabulous job from a vocal perspective, singing expressively and serving up ample attitude. He depicts this wild superbly, sharing early on, “She loves the cocaine, but cocaine don’t love her back.” Of course, it doesn’t! Twice he emphasizes in the verse, “She’s a 90s supermodel,” and emphasizes she was once a “good Christian” (Christianity was on the rise in the 80s and 90s).  Of course, she moves beyond her positive ways and is stealing paintings (specifically, Basquiat) and participating in OnlyFans. Well, the OnlyFans part fits the 2020s, but back when she was/is a “90s supermodel,” OnlyFans didn’t exist!

Final Thoughts 💭

seal of approvalAll in all, once again, Måneskin comes through with an enjoyable record.  I’m not sure it supplants 🎵 “Beggin’” or 🎵 “MAMMAMIA”, but it’s certainly worthwhile.  Dynamic vocals, entertaining lyrics, and well-rounded production make “SUPERMODEL” a winner – a surefire vibe.
