Luke Bryan, What Makes You Country © CapitolLuke Bryan drops “Out of Nowhere Girl,” the fifth and final teaser track from his highly-anticipated sixth studio album, ‘What Makes You Country.

Luke Bryan continues to promote his ‘Christmas gift to his fans,’ a new album, What Makes You Country.  Ahead of his December 8 album, as of yet, the popular country artist has dropped four singles.  First, he showcased objectophilia on “Light It Up,” a pop-oriented, modern country record.  On title track “What Makes You Country,” he went more traditional, embracing the ‘country’ in country music.  Third single “Most People Are Good” encouraged and lifted up the fan base, while his fourth teaser, “Hooked On It” was a crowd-pleasing, unapologetic country joint.  He caps off the promo campaign with “Out of Nowhere Girl.”

“Out of Nowhere Girl” serves as the second track from What Makes You Country.  It contrasts the traditional, countrified sound of the title track, as well as tenth track, “Hooked on It.” There’s a bit more of a pop vibe, particularly on the first verse. Even so, the pop vibes are subtler compared to the likes of “Light It Up” or the majority of contemporary country that blurs country music lines.  The prominence of the banjo, and ultimately the country full-fledged country cues on the chorus, solidify its country status.  Speaking of the chorus, it’s incredibly catchy and well-performed.

Final Thoughts

All in all, “Out of Nowhere Girl” is another enjoyable joint from Luke Bryan. There are elements of pop, but it’s not over exaggerated in the least.  While this is pleasant, it’s not game changing. Still, it’s worthy of spins.
