Gen-Z rapper Luh Tyler exhibits plenty of potential on his confident, engaging, and entertaining rap banger, “On My Own.”
“Idon’t owe nobody shit, nigga, I did this shit on my own / I ran up the money, ain’t switched, nigga, I’ma be the same ‘til I’m gone.” Woo! He may be young, but Luh Tyler is ready and filled with a heaping dose of potential! He exhibits a shit-ton of confidence and swagger on his single, “On My Own”. “Tyler get fly as a bitch, matter fact, he get fly as a drone,” he continues to rap in the chorus, and adds, “They said that I wouldn’t be shit, now everybody singin’ my songs.”
There is plenty to ooh and ah over in this single. The bass-heavy trap production (Yakree) packs a mean punch. The groove and drum programming specifically are the sugar, honey, iced tea. Beyond the potent beat, refined keys and fluty synths stand out, contrasting the heavy-handed kick. As electrifying as Yakree’s instrumental is, Luh Tyler is the star. He rides the beat like a champ. Among topics covered are bitches (“Can’t get ‘em off my dick, hey tryna jump all on it”), grinding hard (“I got so much goals in me, I’ma just keep on achievin’”), and puttin’ on (“Livin’ the life I was dreamin’, I prayed for this shit, nigga / I give it all up to Jesus”). The chorus, excerpted earlier, slaps hard! Tyler serves up an agile, compelling cadence and flow. While “On My Own” isn’t a game-changer, it is an engaging, entertaining rap banger anchored by badass production.
