Lokki, I Catch You © LokkiNewcomer Lokki proves he’s one to watch on his radiant debut single, “I Catch You,” the promo single from his upcoming, debut EP, ‘Cirrhi.’

Sometimes, the best songs come from up-and-coming musicians. While we look to our established, familiar musicians for greatness, perhaps we should turn or focus our attention to the next generation, chocked-full of talented newbies. Lokki is among those talented newbies, and he has a fantastic single on his hands with “I Catch You.” “I Catch You,” released January 19, 2018, marks his debut single off of his debut EP, CirrhiOf his debut single, he writes:

“I Catch You” is a late-night song. Its sound world is like waking up in the early hours of the morning, with music from a soundtrack drifting through the walls. The strings gradually meld with the piano, seeping into your sleepy mind. Splintering and falling apart, reforming and fading.

Who knows their own music better than themselves? He may be a newbie, but Lokki is quite special if “I Catch You” is any indication.

“I Catch You” commences with relatively simple, yet rhythmic piano accompaniment. Essentially, things are uncomplicated, yet sufficient. Lokki paints over the backdrop beautifully with distinct, smooth vocals.  His instrument possesses ample character.  As the verse progresses, the listener becomes hypnotized by the unique harmonic progression. It’s not overly complex, but also not completely traditional.  Add in the pitch-perfect songwriting, and eventual addition of strings coupled with piano (as he described in his own statement), and “I Catch You” becomes quite the juggernaut.

Final Thoughts

Lokki shines on “I Catch You.” This a beautiful, breathtaking, and hypnotizing record.  Great vocals, great production, and great songwriting makes this a gem that is a must-hear.
