Logic, One Day [Photo Credit: Def Jam]Grammy-nominated rapper Logic comes back with uplifting bars and good vibes on his latest single “One Day,” featuring Ryan Tedder.

“On the come up, where they run up from the world of many fiends.” Logic is back, though truth be told, did he ever really go away? In 2017 he released Everybody, featuring the Grammy-nominated hit, “1-800-273-8255”.  More recently, in 2018, he released a new mixtape, Bobby Tarantino II.  Still, the rapper, who’s clearly on an upward trajectory as of late, is back with a new single, “One Day,” featuring Ryan Tedder.

“One Day” opens with chorus sung by Ryan Tedder.  He sings with tremendous energy and optimism, looking toward tomorrow.

“And maybe one day I’ll be wiser / ‘Cause maybe one day I’ll be further from here / Put all of my faith in tomorrow / Dark days keep me up all night / Only think I know, it’s gonna be – alright.”

There’s a welcome change of pace with the production following the opening chorus.  The resulting backdrop is rhythmic and soulful in  nature.  It’s great to hear Logic dropping straight bars without pop-rapping. As always, his flow is lethal.  On the first verse, he raps about coming up, being on the grind, and using his platform for unity.

“One thing I can be sure, as long as I got the floor / I’ma use this power to paint a picture of unity / And yeah, I’m rippin’ it up with that energy like it’s two of me / F**k the lights and the cameras, right now it’s just you and me.”

A bridge precedes the choruses, performed mostly by Logic (“One day / I’ll be richer than I was before…”).  On the second verse, he asserts, “Game been broken for too long, so I guess I am the cast.” Furthermore, he reminisces on his rough upbringing, and hard times.  At the end of the record, there’s ample Ryan Tedder, performing the final two choruses, with a bridge in between.

Final Thoughts

All in all, “One Day” is an uplifting record from Logic.  It’s nothing game changing, but well produced.  Furthermore, he continues to show off a great flow, and gets a great assist from Tedder.
