Logic, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind [Photo Credit: Def Jam]Prolific Grammy-nominated rapper Logic gets incredibly introspective on “Confessions of a Dangerous Mind,” his second single of 2019.

“What’s your name? What’s your game? / Come now, boy, just spit your flow / Feel the pain with the gain, what you tryna say though? /… Can’t refrain from lettin’ these people know.” Logic never seems to have a shortage of things to say, not to mention a shortage of music.  Even though he released a mixtape (Bobby Tarantino II) and a new studio album (YSIV) in 2018, yet another new LP is in the works. But in advance, Sir Robert Hall drops one of his more unique singles in some time, “Confessions of a Dangerous Mind.”

Arguably the biggest selling point of “Confessions of a Dangerous Mind” is the production work.  The backdrop assembled by 6ix is nothing short of celestial – radiant to the nth degree. The sound crafted is introspective, which definitely amplifies the vibe that Logic seeks to capture with his rhymes. As usual, the agile rapper throws a lot of lyrics at the listener, even as mellow and introspective as “Confessions of a Dangerous Mind” can be at times.  Scan over the lyrics, and there’s a little bit of everything from referencing his anxiety, fame, and the criticism others have towards him.  He has his fair share of points and respectable rhymes, but it’s a lot to absorb, even stretched accross a record that approaches five minutes in duration.

Final Thoughts

With “Confessions of a Dangerous Mind” there are pros and cons. The pros easily outweigh the cons for Logic. To reiterate, the production is at the top of the pros list.  The rhymes are mostly pros as well, though sometimes fall somewhere in between, partially because there’s so much to absorb. Personally, I like the contrast that Logic offers from some of his previous songs.  The vibe is insane.
