Lizzo, Juice [Photo Credit: Nice Life / Atlantic]Rising Minneapolis pop musician Lizzo exudes the utmost confidence on her first brand-new single of 2019, “Juice.”

“Mirror, mirror on the wall / Don’t say it ‘cause I know I’m cute (Ooh, baby) / Louis down to my drawers / LV all on my shoes.” For rising Minneapolis alt-hip-hop/pop musician Lizzo, you could say that ‘the drip’ is real.  Actually, she goes on to say that herself on the first verse of her first single of 2019, “Juice.” She previously captivated in 2018 with her distinct, energetic singles “Fitness” and “Boys.” On “Juice,” well, she definitely has plenty of that.

What makes “Juice” such a ‘juicy’ single? Well, at 3:15, it’s just the right duration. Adding to pro of optimal length is a throwback, soulful groove.  This definitely fuels Lizzo’s fire.  She’s feisty from the onset, pop-rapping initially.  As exemplified by the aforementioned excerpt from the first verse, she spits some mad game. Even better than the verses are the, catch, swagger-laden pre-chorus and chorus sections.  Lizzo closes out ther pre-chorus with a bang, asserting, “Heard you say I’m not the baddest bitch, you lie.” Of course, the chorus follows in all its glory:

“It ain’t my fault that I’m out here gettin’ loose
Gotta blame it on the Goose
Gotta blame it on my juice, baby
It ain’t my fault that I’m out here makin’ news
I’m the pudding in the proof
Gotta blame it on my juice.”

Final Thoughts

“No, I’m not a snack at all / Look, baby, I’m the whole damn meal.” Sigh, doesn’t that sum up the confident track that “Juice” is? Of course, it does.  Lizzo makes a sensational case for herself as the next big-time sensation in pop… or whatever genre best fits her. Indeed, Lizzo is “the whole damn meal.”
