Confident and talented British rapper Lil Simz ‘cooks’ on her brief but potent drill-infused rap banger, “Hello, Hi.”
“SS Simz ’25, you ain’t never seen this season / Takin’ it to another level this year and I got every reason.” Woo! If you have never heard music from British rapper Little Simz (Simbi Ajikawo), you’re missing out! No fears, though! The brief but potent single “Hello, Hi” is the perfect opportunity to introduce yourself to the talented artist. While the song is only two-and-a-quarter minutes long, Little Simz brings the heat, talking her shit like a boss, PERIOD. SHYY BEATS and Rigas give Ajikawo a badass backdrop to work with. The musical accompaniment thrives off its drill cues.
Matching the smooth but assertive drill-infused production, Little Simz brings assertiveness with her confident rhymes. Her British accent makes her performance even more charming. What I’m saying is, the cadence and flow are compelling AF – it kicks ass and takes names. Ajikawo delivers only one verse, but she makes it worthwhile. She starts with a bang: “I know pain and scars, I know martial arts / Thank God I made, mashallah.” Word! Simz doesn’t stop there, of course. She raps, “Got a pen that’s pumpin’ iron the way it’s writin’ stainless steel.” Ooh-wee! A surefire, unapologetic banging line from this banger:
“I know my shit intelligent, and it don’t work for your IQ
They told you I’m humble, well, fuck that, you’ve been lied to
They make it to the top, then add water and dilute
My shit has a standard, I couldn’t slip if I tried to.”
Oh, snap! Even with her chef boyfriend by her side, Little Simz ‘cooks’ with the gift of pen and vocal delivery. “Hello, Hi” is another bop from a rapper that deserves far more recognition.
