Lil Uzi Vert remains prolific in 2020 dropping the banging single, “Sasuke.” It arrives post-Eternal Atake (Deluxe) – LUV vs. the World 2.
“I can make her left-right when she shake her ass cheeks / Yeah she so nasty…” She’s not the only one… Anyways, after hearing very little from Lil Uzi Vert, we’ve heard plenty from the rapper in 2020. First, he released Eternal Atake. Then, just one week later, he issued the deluxe version of the album, Eternal Atake (Deluxe) – LUV vs. the World 2. Basically, fans were given two separate albums within the span of a week. Beyond the nearly two hours of music Eternal Atake (Deluxe) – LUV vs. the World 2 encompasses, there’s a new single too, “Sasuke.” With “Sasuke,” well, the best way to describe it is that it’s definitely a Lil Uzi Vert record.
“Sasuke,” which runs more than four minutes, finds Lil Uzi Vert changing vocal inflections like its nothing. As usual, he raps agilely, energetically, and hyper sexually. As always, the flow and intensity rank high on the list of selling points from the rapper. Another selling point is the banging production by Outtatown and Brandon Finessin. The most important part of the backdrop is definitely that anchoring trap beat. So, recapping the pros: creative vocal inflections, flow, energy, and production.
While Lil Uzi Vert impresses with his flow and energy, the lyrics are, um, mediocre at best. Yes, it’s cool that he references anime (Sasuke Uchiha), but does that atone for the cliché? He devotes plenty of time to drip and his penis. “She just wanna suck it ‘til her nose bleed / She sat on my dick like she had no seat, yeah.” Really Uzi Vert, really? And, as if we needed more clarity about what she’s going to do to him, he repeats, numerous times, “She gon’ suck it all like she got no teeth.” My, my, my!
Final Thoughts
“Sasuke” is a banger – that can’t be denied of it. There are indeed pros. That said, Lil Uzi Vert just doesn’t offer any substance. I mean, didn’t he spend plenty of time on Eternal Atake discussing oral sex? If vibe is your thing, well, “Sasuke” has that covered without a hitch. If you were hoping that Uzi Vert would step up his game with more meaningful, transcendent bars, you’ll be totally and utterly disappointed.
