“We be throwin’ money in a spiral / Every time your girl hear my song, yeah, turn her right into my ho / She shake her ass, do the eye roll.” Okay… Grammy-nominated rapper Lil Uzi Vert returns with two brand-new singles – “Sanguine Paradise” and “That’s a Rack.”  Interestingly, both singles arrive more than half-a-year after Lil Uzi dropped a previous ‘comeback’ single, “New Patek”.  “Sanguine Paradise” ends up being quite an interesting and entertaining listening experience.

“Sanguine Paradise” begins in mysterious, somewhat unsettled fashion with an intro, excerpted above.  The intro, which eventually becomes a ‘refrain’ of sorts, continues, “Got a skinny thong like a tightrope / I be blowin’ up like some pyro / Coupe 150, call it Kyro.”  Initially, it’s difficult to see where Lil Uzi Vert is going.  Things eventually settle in more on the verse, which is anchored by a hard-hitting beat.  Still, there’s some unpredictability that isn’t completely clarified until after the ‘bridge’ (“Money keep comin’ in, I can’t lose”), with the arrival of the incredibly confident chorus.

“I got different color on my diamonds, I can’t even see the time

I don’t wanna see her face, I’ma go and get behind

Drop the top on the Wraith, I’ma make it lose its mind

I just made 100K, it was quicker than a Vine…”

By the first chorus, Lil Uzi Vert is on autopilot on “Sanguine Paradise.” He drops a slick line about his height on the second verse, spitting, “In reality, I’m 5’4” / Stand on my money, now I’m 6’6”.”  This is representative of his drip, something he also focuses in on the third verse (“Got frost on my diamonds, I’m gettin’ cake now”).  Post-third verse, the intro returns as the refrain, before the flex-fest of a chorus returns.

Final Thoughts

All in all, “Sanguine Paradise” is an enjoyable record by Lil Uzi Vert.  While it takes a while to settle in, after a couple of listens, the magic of this dripping joint reveals itself.  In addition to a solid performance by Lil Uzi, “Sanguine Paradise” is well-produced thanks to the beat, keyboard work, and the brassy synths that appear during the chorus.
