Lil Skies, Creeping © All We Got Ent.Rising rapper Lil Skies, assisted by fellow rising rapper Rich the Kid, drop an empty, sexually-driven single, “Creeping.”

Despite releasing a project in January 2018 (Life of a Dark Rose), rising rapper Lil Skies returns with a new single, “Creeping.” Skies doesn’t handle the load all by himself, tapping Rich the Kid for the assist. “Creeping” opens with lovely production, despite being set in a minor key. Clearly, it’s the keyboard patch, sigh. After beginning without percussion, the hard-hitting drums enter to anchor things down.  The drums add an element of toughness against the radiant synths.

While the beauty of the production work may be debatable, the rhymes aren’t particularly fine.  Lil Skies delivers the melodic chorus, referencing pills and sex. The sex gets the bluntest treatment, with the clumsiest line being “Pu**y sweeter than some juice / I slurp it like it’s soup.” Even the basketball references of the post-chorus are tied to doing it.  It continues onto his verse, which finds the rapper cocky and confident.  As for Rich the Kid, his second verse also goes south, along with incorporating material into the mix.

Final Thoughts

Ultimately, “Creeping” is straightforward.  Two cocky, incredibly horny rappers.  Solid production work, unremarkable lyrics.  There’s not much more to say.  “Creeping” won’t change your life – it’s just another empty, shallow-minded braggadocios cut.  It’s not bad per se, but nor does it come close to approaching greatness or a feeling of accomplishment.  Temporary pleasure – liken it to a one-night stand.  “Hit it and quit.”
