On the 1st edition of LGBTQ Bopz
(2021), we highlight the song, “Scoop” performed by Grammy-winning pop artist, Lil Nas X.
B
ring on the B-O-P-Z, like #SLAYYY! LGBTQ Bopz“I been workin’ on my body / You ever seen a nigga hit Pilates? (Ah) / … I been movin’ work on the daily / Understand, I’m just tryna be the daily / SCOOP!” Question: Is there any more fitting way too commence LGBTQ Bopz than with a song courtesy of
Lil Nas X? The answer is a resounding HELL NO, there is no more fitting way to commence with a LNX record. Pardon my French (or lack thereof) but Lil Nas is the SugarHoneyIcedTea and nothing less – totally the
“Scoop”! He’s embraced being black and queer, and ‘doesn’t give a what’ what the homophobes have to say about him. “Scoop,” which appears on his debut album,
Montero, has no shortage of hits, all of which could easily grace this bop-infused column.
“Scoop,” notably, features another member of the LGBTQ community, bisexual Grammy-nominated sensation,
Doja Cat. This surefire banger isn’t deep but it’s fun and has a couple of key happenings. Nas X wants to be the “scoop” or trending topic, but he also wants to ‘scoop’ sexually:
“And I’m tryna fuck, lil nigga, fuck the chit-chat
I ain’t talkin’ guns when I ask where your dick at.”
Doja cat also plays off both meanings of the scoop, too. She asserts, “I just got my veneers, now bitches wanna rip they face up.” Woo! Of course, unsurprisingly, she thrives most sexually: “He named my right cheek Jennifer and left one Lopez.” My, oh my!
Final Thoughts
All said and done, Lil Nas X is the “Scoop” – deal with it. He didn’t need to drop a song confirming the obvious. There are more personal records on Montero, of course, but “Scoop” ranks among the most fun. Worth noting, it interpolates the
Post Malone record,
“Spoil My Night” featuring
Swae Lee.
