Rapper Lil Mosey drops an enjoyable (though not game changing), confident, swagger-laden melodic trap joint with “Jumpin Out the Face.”
Melodic rapper 🎙 Lil Mosey definitely caught my attention with his 2020 single, 🎵 “Blueberry Faygo”, which appeared on his album, 💿 Certified Hitmaker. Indeed, “Blueberry Faygo” was a hit. He’s back with a brand-new single, 🎵 “Jumpin Out the Face,” which has no shortage of swagger.
“Jumpin Out the Face” exemplifies the melodic trap sound, period. The sound of the record trends more minimal. The production by 🎙 30Roc and 🎙 Jurij Gold features a harder beat with kinder, gentler keyboard lines. It’s an effective backdrop that fits Lil Mosey stylistically, even if it’s not particular earth shattering or game changing.
As for Lil Mosey, he’s young, confident, and cocky. Sure, cocky is often seen as a negative, but in hip-hop, it’s what’s expected. It all starts with the chorus, where her asserts, “These diamonds, they jumpin’ out the face” and “Big wheels, tell ‘em, ‘Bitch, get ot my way.’” Mosey doesn’t stop there, as he’s “Got a bad bitch to the left and the right of me” (you always double up 😉) and “VVs on my watch, yeah, VVs on my necklace,” on the first verse. On the second verse, he seems to more focused on ‘shawty’ where “She love to party, she get naughty / Back to back, she fuckin’ every nigga ‘round me…” Alright Mosey, alright…
Final Thoughts 💭
So, does Lil Mosey offer much substance on “Jumpin Out the Face?” Nope, not in the least. Honestly, you should’ve been able to infer this based on the title of the record. Don’t get me wrong, it’s an enjoyable record, but by no means ‘the second coming.’
