Grammy-winning rapper Lil Baby keeps it real, no BS, on his entertaining, honest, and blunt rap banger, “Real Shit.”
“Know them young niggas look up to me, so I can’t lead ‘em on / Watchin’ what I talk about, I’m the leader, so I can’t tell ‘em wrong.” Damn straight, Lil Baby (Dominique Jones)! That’s why the ATL rapper is on some “Real Shit”! Lil Baby penned the entertaining, honest, no BS single with TM88, and producers 43Juice and SouliMadeIt.
The shit, rather, the real shit commences enigmatically, set in a minor key. The sound palette comprises lush strings and warm piano. The beauty of the sound is a contradiction to the dark, foreboding vibes, which is cool. After impressing with the sophisticated intro, the trap arrives! While some of the refinement dips to welcome the aggressiveness and grit of souped-up drum programming and Lil Baby’s bars, the musical backdrop continues to kick ass and take names. Lil Baby raps one lengthy verse, with no hook in sight. It works out well for this particular track, given Baby has a shit-ton to say! Also, he’s on his melodic shit. Even so, he packs a punch. He brings a compelling cadence and flow. The flow is agile, and he rides beat like a champ. It is difficult to decipher everything Lil Baby raps without the lyrics in front of you? Yes. Is “Real Shit” a vibe, nonetheless? Also, yes, more like a hell yes. The bars do matter, but even without spotlighting them, it is clear that Lil Baby is on his “Real Shit” here, no cap!
