Grammy-nominated rapper Lil Baby gets amped up for giving back on his brief but entertaining single, “Merch Madness.”
“Merch madness, I done took it global / … Jump back in my bag, did this one for the culture.” WOO! 🏆 Grammy-nominated rapper 🎙 Lil Baby does something different on his single, 🎵 “Merch Madness”. Notably, he doesn’t swear once – clearly intentional. More notably, he raps about giving back. “Real trench baby, business with Fanatics / This like twenty million on a giveaway.” The keywords are Fanatics (who he partnered with) and, of course, giveaway.
This two-and-a-half-minute joint is produced by 🎛 Richie Souf and Fourteen. They provide Lil Baby with a sweet backdrop to rap over, charitably (couldn’t resist). The best part of the record is the chorus, which is quite tuneful – more so than some of the rapper’s other songs. Still, the verses have redeeming qualities and memorable moments too. “In the streets, let ‘em see me, let the kids know they can be one,” Baby raps in the first verse, adding, “Lawyers, doctors, authors, you ain’t gotta rap or make it D1.” That is thoughtful – inspiring. Notably, at the end of the second verse, Lil Baby speaks about authenticity: “Real people really do exist, but they might call it magic.” 🎵 “Merch Madness” is an enjoyable, respectable song from Lil Baby – no expletives necessary! It doesn’t flip the game on its side – it’s not “The Bigger Picture”, mind you – but it’s definitely worth spinning 🔥.
