Lil Baby & Lil Durk Rule: Scanning the Charts πŸ“‰ No. 24 [πŸ“·: Brent Faulkner, The Musical Hype, Quality Control Music]Scanning the Charts (6/19/21): Lil Baby & Lil Durk Rule launch at no. 1 on the Billboard 200 with The Voice of the Heroes. Β

Well, SCANNING THE CHARTS is just what it says it is.Β  I, the quirky founder and do-it-all at The Musical Hype scans through the Billboard Charts and picks out things that catch my eye. This column isn’t extensive, but rather short and sweet.Β  This week, I picked out FIVE notable observations from the Billboard 200 πŸ“‰, Β and FIVE observations from the Billboard Hot 100 πŸ“‰, with πŸŽ™ Lil Baby and πŸŽ™ Lil Durk rule launching at no. 1 on the Billboard 200 with their collaborative album, πŸ’Ώ The Voice of the Heroes.

Billboard 200 πŸ“‰

Lil Baby & Lil Durk, The Voice of the Heroes [πŸ“·: Quality Control Music]πŸ’ After πŸŽ™ Taylor Swift ascended back to no. 1 last week with πŸ’Ώ Evermore, she’s knocked out of the top spot – all the way down to no. 8 – by πŸŽ™ Lil Baby and πŸŽ™ Lil Durk.Β  The two popular rappers see πŸ’Ώ The Voice of the Heroes move a robust 150,000 units – well, robust for times such as these!

πŸ’ As for breakthrough πŸŽ™ Olivia Rodrigo, she may still be β€˜sour’ that her totally-not-sour debut album πŸ’Ώ SOUR remains stuck at no. 2 after its own robust no. 1 start with the biggest numbers of 2021.

πŸ’ K-Pop act πŸŽ™ TOMORROW X TOGETHER get some top-five love as πŸ’Ώ The Chaos Chapter: FREEZE launches at no. 5. Β Amazingly, the next debut in the top-50 of the chart can’t be found until no. 39, where πŸŽ™ Rise Against debuts with πŸ’Ώ Nowhere Generation.

πŸ’ The rest of the top 100 has a few debuts.Β  πŸŽ™ Japanese Breakfast lands at no. 56 with πŸ’Ώ Jubilee. Β Country musician Brett Young enters truly modestly at no. 79 with πŸ’Ώ Weekends Look a Little Different These Days (apparently so do album sales 😬).Β  Rapper πŸŽ™ Lloyd Banks – yes, of πŸŽ™ G-Unit notoriety – gets into the mix, albeit at a tepid no. 84 with πŸ’Ώ The Course of the Inevitable.

πŸ’ I guess not all posthumous albums have much staying power. πŸŽ™ DMX is nowhere to be found on this week’s Billboard 200 after πŸ’Ώ Exodus launched at no. 8 just last week.Β  He deserves better y’all!

Billboard Hot 100 πŸ“‰Β

BTS, "Butter" [πŸ“· : BIGHIT / HYBE]πŸ’ πŸŽ™ BTS are still the act to beat on the Hot 100, spending their third consecutive week on top with 🎡 β€œButter”.

πŸ’ πŸŽ™ Olivia Rodrigo remains in the runner-up slot with 🎡 β€œgood 4 u”. At least she’s consistent, right?

πŸ’ Shout out to πŸŽ™ Bad Bunny who earns the top debut on the Billboard Hot 100 with 🎡 β€œYonaguni” at no. 10.

πŸ’ As to be expected, there are some debuts from πŸŽ™ Lil Baby & πŸŽ™ Lil Durk sprinkled throughout the Hot 100.Β  The highest arrives at no. 16 with 🎡 β€œHats Off” featuring πŸŽ™ Travis Scott.

πŸ’ Two more notable debuts: πŸŽ™ Roddy Ricch bows at no. 20 with 🎡 β€œLate at Night” while πŸŽ™ Billie Eilish arrives at no. 27 with 🎡 β€œLost Cause”. Β
