Bring on the braggadocio, drip, sex, and kick-a$$ery – is that even a real word?
Regardless of whether it is or isn’t, you’ve entered Rap BNGRZ 🔥 territory! On Rap BNGRZ 🔥 (bangers, spelled properly), the premise is simple and like other columns gracing The Musical Hype (Outlandish Rock 🎸🤘 is its rock brotha from a different motha). BNGRZ provides background info and commentary on cocky, confident, ferocious hip-hop/rap songs. The bangers featured on BNGRZ can be brand-spanking-new or certified classics. In the 17th edition of Rap BNGRZ 🔥 (2022), we break down the banger status of 🎵 “How It Feels” performed by 🎙 Lil Baby and 🎙 Lil Durk.Theme & Lyrics ✍
“I know how it feel when you broke, and them bills past due (Yeah) /Oh, you thought this shit was a joke? We on your ass too!” Oh, sugar honey iced tea! Holy for under consent of the king! 🎙 Lil Baby and 🎙 Lil Durk – two of the most popular rappers of the 2020s – collaborated on 💿 The Voice of the Heroes, released in 2021. The Voice of the Heroes was ultimately certified gold by the RIAA. One of the best moments from the LP is the banger, 🎵 “How It Feels”, which hits something fierce!
The flows by Lil Baby and Lil Durk are electric. Lil Baby gets first blood, serving up the pre-chorus, then, the best part of the song, the chorus:
“I know how it feel to think everybody against you
I know how it feel to watch bullets go through a windshield
I know how it feel when you try your best to be real
I know how it feel when you think no one understands you.”
Of course, the lyric quote at the top appears at the end of the chorus, in all its toughness and glory. He follows the chorus with a lit verse, continuing to compel with that masterful flow we’ve come accustomed to (“I ain’t tryna say I’m cocky, but I feel I’m the best / Every time, I want the maximum, ain’t takin’ nothin’ less / I’ve been back-to-back jets, but I still fly Delta”). No worries as Lil Durk ain’t overshadowed. “I know how it feel to lose your brother to the trenches (Trenches) /I know how it feel to get burnt ‘bout some bitches (‘Bout some bitches),” he raps, continuing, “Lyin’ on some murders, actin’ turnt like he did it / Slidin’ in a Demon, but low key, he a Christian.” He doesn’t get as much airtime as Lil Baby, but he complements and contrasts Lil Baby exceptionally well. Durk’s melodic approach is always a treat even when he’s being hard-nosed.
Finally, beyond the rhymes, what about that production? 🎛 Noah Pettigrew, 🎛 Section 8, and 🎛 Chi Chi ‘kick ass and take names.’ If nothing else, those rhythmic 808s runs are the sugar honey iced tea! This is a trap dream! Also, can’t fail to shout out that entertaining music video 🎶📼. The fellas are up to no good but have good intentions if that makes sense (you just have to watch).
Final Thoughts 💭
Lil Baby and Lil Durk make a formidable team, period. They knock it out of the park on this honest and memorable trap banger. 🎵 “How It Feels” is one of the best moments from 💿 The Voice of the Heroes.
