Lauv, F**k, I’m Lonely (from 13 Reasons Why: Season 3) | Track Review 🎵

Ari Leff, better known as Lauv, assisted by Anne-Marie, drop the lonely, but enjoyably, explicit “fuck, I’m Lonely,” from ‘13 Reasons Why: Season 3.’  

“Fuck, I’m lonely, I’m lonely, I’m lonely as…” Can you fill in the ellipses? Of course, you can!  With a song title like “fuck, I’m lonely,” there’s honestly little left to the imagination.  That’s actually okay because in the same token, Lauv (Ari Leff), assisted by Anne-Marie captures a relatable sentiment, adding a bit more punch with the f-bomb of course.  “Fuck, I’m lonely” is set to appear on the forthcoming 13 Reasons Why, third season soundtrack, as well as Lauv’s ‘sophomore’ album, how I’m feeling, which according to Rolling Stone, “will be released track-by-track as it’s being recorded, simultaneously with the tour.”

As usual, Lauv is in his feelings, which also happens to be Lauv at his best.  On the first verse, after calling multiple times, he asserts, “Your fingers through my hair, that’s on my mind.” On the pre-chorus, he goes on to sing, “I don’t know, I don’t know / How I’m gonna make it out / … Now you got me sayin’…” You can figure, that’s where the lonely chorus excerpted above comes into play.  The wine that Anne-Marie drinks on the second verse isn’t the only thing that’s bitter:

“And all my friends are way too drunk to save me from my phone
So sorry if I say some things I mean.”

Both join forces for the remainder of the song in various instances, including the reminiscent bridge. Essentially, neither lonely lover wants to get over each other or the now defunct relationship.  It’s the same sentiment on the outro: “I don’t want, don’t want to get over you.”

Final Thoughts

All in all, “fuck, I’m lonely” is another enjoying, entertaining love-centric song from Lauv.  It’s even more colorful thanks to the playful bomb him and Anne-Marie drop.  The production keeps things relatively light-hearted, matching the vocal performance by both artists.  So even if the cards are revealed with the song title, it’s still worthy of spins.
